Commissioning New Works
I have completed commissions for a wide variety of music including brass bands, wind/jazz orchestras and chamber groups as well as choirs and instrumental soloists and I am always delighted to discuss new potential composition or arranging work. The timescale for production of a new piece is flexible but you should normally allow a minimum of a month for completion of the score from the date the commission is agreed. The costs involved will naturally vary depending on the length, complexity or size of instrumental/vocal forces involved. Commissioning a new work or arrangement will allow the band, ensemble, orchestra or choir exclusive use of this work for an agreed period of time before any possible publication. In addition there is normally a dedication placed beneath the title page of the published (or unpublished) score and parts making specific reference to the commissioning body - whether it be an individual, organisation, band, ensemble, orchestra or choir. After publication this dedication will continue to highlight your commission for as long as the work is performed and recorded.
The style and duration of the piece will be agreed in discussion be to suit the requirements of the commissioning organisation or individual. I am an experienced music typesetter and all final scores and parts are printed using the latest Sibelius or Dorico music notation system ensuring that the work is produced at publication standard.
