As well as instrumental music I am also a songwriter recording both as a solo artist and also working with female vocalist Jules Varley in the band Julestone and my songs cover a wide variety of styles including acoustic, country, jazz and blues. Julestone released their debut album Anyway in 2015 and we are currently working on new material for forthcoming release. I recently released a country-blues album Waiting in the Wings and have been collaborating with US lyricist Donna Evans for this project.
I am a pianist, vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player with extensive experience as performer, composer, arranger and session musician in classical, jazz and popular music. I have produced songs and arrangements for many commercial recordings together with ‘jingles’, incidental music, music for the stage as well as instrumental backing for professional ‘demo’ recordings. I have written numerous songs in a wide range of styles and have his own multi-track digital recording studio. Six of my songs (with lyrics by Eddie Lewisohn) appear on the highly acclaimed jazz vocal CD by Isabel Roberts called Leave the Man Alone.
Aside from recording and compositing I also teach piano and composition and have recently been visiting tutor in jazz piano at Falmouth University. I write regular music technology reviews and articles for several magazines including 'Music Teacher' magazine and blog articles and reviews for Time+Space. I am a member of PRS for Music, MCPS and the ISM.
